On the 12th Day of Christmas…

Pocket Full of Posies gave to me, the perfect hot chocolate recipe.

I don’t know about you, but I love a good cup of hot chocolate. When the “weather outside is frightful,” hot chocolate is a must in my book! When the instant stuff just won’t cut it, here’s a super easy, but super yummy, hot chocolate recipe.

Yummy Hot Chocolate

1/4 C. water
2 Tbs. cocoa powder
2 Tbs. sugar
1 1/2 C. milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
whipped cream

Measure water, sugar, and cocoa in a glass measuring cup, stir well. Microwave on high 1-2 minutes to make chocolate syrup. Stir in milk and vanilla and microwave until hot. Top with whipped cream. Servings: 1

We hope everyone is having a very Merry Christmas! It’s official, the 12 days of Christmas are over. Until next year! Happy New Year!

On the 11th day of Christmas…

Pocket Full of Posies gave to you, AMAZING cake pops made by Bakerella!

3090887825_b5494561b2

Emily and I saw these awhile ago and thought “WOW, these not only look amazing but SO yummy!” So we decided that we’d get together and make a ton, and give them to friends and family. We thought they would be easy and not take much time BUT we had a bit of a hard time. We couldn’t get our chocolate to be as smooth (but we’ve heard from friends that there are some good tricks to be learned when working with melted chocolate) we tried using the chocolate bark, but didn’t love the taste so we tried chocolate chips, and then we tried mint chocolate chips and those were our favorite. We kept them frozen and they were SO yummy right out of the freezer! If anyone has any good tips with these we’d love to hear them!

On the 10th Day of Christmas…

Pocket Full of Posies gave to me, an AMAZING muffin recipe!

cranberry muffinsCranberry muffins to die for. My mom discovered this recipe years ago at the end of a children’s Christmas book. She made them to go with our traditional Christmas Eve dinner (turkey soup) and they were instantly a hit and became part of the Christmas Eve tradition. Now I make them every year and they’ve become a favorite of my husband’s family as well! Enjoy!Cranberry Muffins

On the 9th Day of Christmas…

Pocket Full of Posies gave to me, a reindeer food craft for your family!

Last year was the first year we started doing reindeer food as a family tradition. Someone gave us the reindeer food with the cute saying and my kids loved sprinkling it all over the lawn for Santa’s reindeer to eat while he unloaded all the presents! I found some cute baggie toppers online, but they didn’t have the dimensions of a regular size baggie so I fixed it up a bit. Here are the toppers I made.

Magic Reindeer Treats

Just click on the picture to download, print them out, fold and staple to the top of the baggie. The actual reindeer food is oatmeal, glitter and we added a few colorful sprinkles!

On the 8th Day of Christmas…

Pocket Full of Posies gave to me, one more yummy Christmas recipe!

snowballs These Snowballs are a family favorite! When my younger brother was little, he loved them so much he’d sneak them when mom wasn’t looking and end up with powdered sugar all over his mouth…he always got caught! These cookies vanish as fast as, or maybe faster, then the mint snow tops. I’ve already made several batches that have disappeared super fast! They’re just so easy to eat!

On the 7th Day of Christmas…

Pocket Full of Posies gave to me, the Candy Cane Hershey Kiss Pretzels recipe!

20081216-candykisses2 Several years ago I had a sweet visiting teacher bring me a plate of Christmas goodies, and on that plate were these pretzels with striped red and white yummy melted stuff on top. They were mint flavored and SO yummy! I didn’t know what the yummy stuff on top was until I ran into some bags of Candy Cane Hershey Kisses at the store. I immediately made the connection and bought 5 or 6 bags and a few bags of pretzels. I went home, made them, and ate way to many!!! These are addicting!

Another year my sister and I made some cute snowman out of large pretzels. They were easy enough for the kids to do and turned out so cute, even if they weren’t perfect. You can find the recipe for those at Family Fun, Crunchy the Snowman.

On the 5th Day of Christmas…

Pocket Full of Posies gave to me, a gingerbread house activity for the whole family.

CIMG6509Last year Emily, our good friend Jessica, and I made home made gingerbread houses with our kids. It was so easy for the kids to do and they had so much fun. The mess on the other hand was quite a big one, but totally worth it!

These are the things you’ll need: graham crackers, lots of different candies: some we used were m&m’s, hershey kisses, suckers, pixie sticks, gumdrops, and smarties.

You’ll also need the “glue” to build the houses! Here is the recipe we used:

GINGERBREAD HOUSE FROSTING

3 egg whites, room temp.
1 lb. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar

Combine all ingredients and beat for 7 to 10 minutes. Spread as desired.

I scooped frosting in several small zip lock bags and cut off a small part of one tip. The kids then used it to squeeze the frosting where they wanted to.

We found this SUPER cute idea for giving Christmas goodies at HowDoesShe. All you have to do is open the original pop top can from the bottom with a can opener, use the stuff inside, wash out the can, fill it with treats, and glue the bottom back on. SO EASY right?! As you can see, you can decorate the can however you want for any occasion. Of course, these are perfect for Christmas!

The End of Our Crafty Week…

c60_chocolate_cookie_wreath_l

So this really isn’t a craft…but it was so cute I couldn’t help but post it!  I found this cute cookie wreath at Bright Ideas.

Ornaments113copy

I love a cute picture ornament!  Isn’t it great to pull out the Christmas ornaments after a year of being boxed up and find all the old picture ornaments and reminisce?!   And the best part is that they are usually easy to make, so you can make one (or more) each year!  I found this cute idea at Write it Down.

111_snowmen_cupcakes_l

Ok, so I was really going to post another craft idea, but then I came across these adorable snowman cupcakes and couldn’t resist!  I found these at Bright Ideas too!

Well, there’s a week of crafts for you to try!  Be ready tomorrow for Freebie Friday…and next week we have something great planned!

Christmas Ornaments

Emily and I both agree that our trees could use some fresh new ornaments, so I have been searching for some cute and easy ones to make. These are a few I’ve found...

6a00d83451d02f69e200e54fa7698d8833-800wi

These are so easy and your kids could help you, I would only worry that my 3 year old would try to eat them when I wasn’t looking! One Crafty Mama shows you how to make them.

I love these little mittens! Oliver and S has a free pattern to download. She made hers into an advent calendar but you could skip the numbers and just use them as ornaments.

Thank you!

Thank you to all Ucreate fans out there, Emily and I have been busy, busy, filling all the orders that came from the boutique!  Not only have we been busy with orders but we’re also working on a few NEW, exciting things for the new year!  Check back often to see what we’ve been up to, you won’t regret it!

Now for some Christmas Crafts…

For many people Christmas is their favorite holiday, I am one of them!  I love Christmas because of the time I get to spend with my family, I love giving gifts, making yummy Christmas treats, and the atmosphere is incredible!  I love being in stores with all the decoration, in fact I love watching Christmas commercials, I’m that crazy about it!  I love taking my kids Christmas shopping and seeing them get so excited about the gifts they are getting their cousins and grandparents, and I love making Christmas crafts with my kids.  The Thanksgiving crafts we made turned out pretty cute.   IMG_4272PicasaEdit

Emily and I loved how our turkey shirts turned out that we are talking about making reindeer shirts for Christmas.  I am a little into reindeer right now, so here are a few cute reindeer crafts.

reindeer-gift-bag-christmas-craft-photo-420-FF1105ALMFA04 Reindeer_head

Aren't these cute?  The first one is a reindeer gift bag, you can fill it with goodies and give to a teacher, friend, or neighbor.  I found it at Family Fun, where they give how to directions.  I like this other craft because it is so simple and for some reason I love crafts made from paper plates.  I found this craft tutorial at Ziggity Zoom.

Happy Crafting!  Cammie

It’s worth it though…right? Well, for all of you who haven’t started the decorating, or who just want a good munchie for the holidays, here is one of our FAVORITES and most ADDICTING ever! Freebie Friday

Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope everyone had as wonderful day as I did!  Now I am off to bed so I can get up EARLY for Black Friday!!!  Emily and I have mapped out our stores, have a plan of action, and are ready to shop, shop, shop!  One thing I will have in my hand is my kids Christmas Wish List.  I made them early this week and had them fill them out, they were a big help as I thumbed through 50+ ads today!  The wish lists are separated into categories that were good for my kids, but I also made blank ones for those who may have other categories in mind.

More Turkey Day Crafts

I’m back!  Thanks to Cammie for picking up this tired mamma’s slack!  As for my post today…

Two more crafts!

The first is something Cammie and I are going to make with (more like for) our kids, because it’s so darn cute!  The cutest turkey shirts!  I found this on Treasures for Tots and the tutorial here.

IMG_1872
The second is more of a game, but it still takes some craftiness!  I think my 2 year old would get a kick out of this turkey bowling.  I found it at Make and Takes and the tutorial here.

Happy Turkey Day everyone!  We’re going to take a little break for the next 2 days, but be sure and check back on Friday for our Freebie Friday!

Thanksgiving Kids Crafts

Turkey-Centerpiece_full_article_vertical I love holidays!  Every holiday for me can be associated with traditions of food, fun activities, and crafts.  I love doing crafts with my kids!  This week I plan on doing a few Thanksgiving craft projects with them.  I found this first one at Woman’s Day.  It is a cute Turkey centerpiece.  I think instead of putting nuts in I’ll have my kids make several and put rolls in each of them for our Thanksgiving dinner.   Click HERE to learn how to make these adorable Turkey centerpieces.

I also thought I’d have my kids make some of these pilgrim hats and Indian headbands.  They look so easy, and my kids love dressing up, so these will be perfect.  I found the pilgrim hats HERE, and I found the Indian headbands HERE.  Happy crafting with your kids!

Friday Freebie!

Today's freebies are Thanksgiving place cards!  I made 2 because one will take a bit more ink, while the other is a little simpler, using less ink.  You can write the name on top and then each guest can write what they are thankful for on the bottom part.  They are both 4x6 in size, and  there three on a 8.5x11 page.  Print, cut out, fold the card in half, and place at each table setting.
