TEACH ME THURSDAY – Candy Corn Wreath

Don’t forget about our GIVEAWAY!!  Today is the LAST DAY to enter to win our Pocket Planning System!

Before I get to the Halloween-y things, Cammie had her baby!!!  She was induced Tuesday morning and had a perfect baby boy by that afternoon!  Mommy and baby are doing very well, and they came home from the hospital yesterday afternoon.  He’s seriously perfect!

Now…Halloween!

I was standing in the checkout line at Wal-Mart the other day and saw this

I just had to have…so I made one!  Here’s what you need:

Wreath of any size (I used a 12” straw wreath, but you can use a styrofoam)
black duct tape or electrical tape
lots of candy corn (almost 2 bags of Brachs)
hot glue
ribbon
mod podge

Here’s what you do:

Wrap your wreath in tape.

You don’t need to cover the entire wreath in candy corn, only the front half.  So, pick a place to start and glue the candy corn a row at a time, alternating the direction they point (mine is so NOT perfect!)IMG_7612

The last step is very necessary…you need to let the candy corn dry out and then seal the whole wreath with Mod Podge or a glossy spray or anything you might have!  I had enough glossy spray to cover most of my wreath and thought it would be good enough, and the first day I hung it on my door the frost from the night before started melting any exposed candy corn!  It was dripping down my front door!  So…I need to fix mine, and I haven’t taken a final picture of mine on my door, but it really does look just like the original picture from Woman’s Day!  Just remember to seal the candy corn or you will be sorry!

I  know this wasn’t the most relevant birthday bash tutorial…but I couldn’t help it!  But, tomorrow is HUGE!  Seriously…if you or any of your friends, family, whoever, wants our Pocket Meal Planning system, tomorrow is the day to check out our site!  We will not only be announcing the winner of our giveaway, but we have a super duper deal to offer!  But that’s all I can say right now!  Tell everyone!  It’s big!  We have to finish our birthday week with a bang!

Have a great Thursday!

Tasty Tuesday - Birthday Cakes

bday button sidebar_thumb[3]

DO NOT forget about our AWESOME Give Away!!! Go check it out so you don’t miss out on a chance to win our Monthly Pocket System!

Emily and I love making birthday cakes!  Growing up my mom would ask us kids what kind of cake we wanted and she would make it.  Even as we got older she would ask us, we got creative and sometimes asked for some interesting requests.  I asked for pumpkin pie several times, and people thought I was pretty crazy since my birthday is in March!  One of my sisters asked for donuts, and my other sister asked for jello one year!  I decided to keep that tradition with my kids and hubby!  My husband picks really yummy things like Carmel Apple Cake, while my kids usually pick some fun things!  Here are some of the cakes Em and I have made through the years:
