Last year my oldest, Jer brought home a recipe called Easter nests from school. His teacher made them for his class and since all the children loved them so much they asked for the recipe. We decided to make them for our Easter dessert. It was such an easy treat to make. The kids helped out a lot by mixing and pouring and adding all the pretty colored eggs. The best part about them was that they were SOOO yummy! Even the daddy's all loved them! There is a funny thing about the eggs....I asked my hubby Ben to run to the store and pick up some Easter candy eggs I told him the chocolate ones or malt ball ones and he came home with bubble gum eggs. He thought he was getting the right thing and didn't realize they were bubble gum, so we warned everyone that they may want to eat the nest first and then chew on the eggs later if they'd like! :) So be sure to get the right eggs!
EASTER BIRD NESTS
- 3 C. chocolate chips
- ½ C. butter
- 4 Tbs. honey
- 8 C. corn flakes
In medium sauce pan add butter and honey and melt slowly over low heat. Take off heat, add chocolate chips and mix well to let chocolate chips melt. Pour corn flakes in large mixing bowl. Pour melted mixture over corn flakes and stir until well coated. Spoon into regular size muffin tray. Put 3 candy eggs in each nest. Let chill for one hour. Use a spoon to remove from muffin tray. Makes 24 nests.
